Last week was exciting, eventful and humbling for Mum and I as we travelled to the U.S. to represent Nad’s. Our passion for empowering women took mum and I across the globe to Baltimore, Maryland to help an organisation that is close to our hearts, Girls in the Game.
We joined forces with Girls in the Game, competing in a Cook-Off for a Cause against other sponsors in order to take home the 1st place title. Spoiler Alert: The Nad’s Team dish was a hit! 😊
Girls in the Game is an organisation that helps every girl find her voice, discover her strength and lead with confidence through fun and active sports, health and leadership programs.
"Girls in the Game empowers young girls by breaking down barriers..."
Girls in the Game empowers young girls by breaking down barriers and tells girls to ask themselves “why not?”, when someone tries to tell them they can’t accomplish their goals.
Not only were we immediately on board because, ‘hello #GirlPower!’, but we loved their message behind their programs as it open doors for opportunities and gives confidence to the next generation of women.
"Hello #GirlPower!"
The Cook-Off for a Cause event kicked off on Friday, so we made sure to gear up for a fun weekend… though I must admit that cooking is definitely not my forte! The event was an Iron Chef-style class, and the participants teamed up against their competitors to create a recipe for success; a full course meal using a secret ingredient, butternut squash, a choice of protein, produce and other ingredients.
Team Nad’s created a chicken curry as the main dish, a butternut squash toast as an appetizer, and an apple, pear, butternut crumble with whip cream for dessert. Mum took charge right away and started organising what the main dish would be, as she loves to cook. At the end of the event we got to sample everything that each team had made and judge on the culinary scores such as taste, creativity and presentation. At the end, we came in 1st place! Yay!
"Team Nad's came first place! Yay!"
It was so much fun cooking for a cause and putting our culinary skills to good use; to create a recipe for success and confidence for girls as they grow into leaders! Nad’s was the proud champion sponsor at the event and our support will sponsor one after-school site for the 2018-19 school year, as well as provide snacks and materials for one 10-week season. 💕
Thank you to Girls in the Game for having us at your event. We’re excited to see these young girls turn into powerful leaders of the next generation. We’re so happy to be a part of their journey.
